Peran Misribu begitu besar di dalam kehidupan Basuki. Basuki bahkan rela meninggalkan beberapa pekerjaannya untuk mengantar sang ibu angkat hingga ke peristirahatan terakhirnya pada (16/10/2014) lalu.

Basuki menceritakan, sebelum sang ayah mengembuskan napas terakhir, Basuki dititipkan kepada keluarga Andi Baso Amir dan Misribu untuk dirawat selama di Jakarta. Saat itu, Basuki sedang mengenyam pendidikan di bangku kuliah, di Universitas Trisakti.
"Waktu kuliah dulu, keluarga dia juga sudah bantu keluarga kami. Bu Misribu bilang, 'sudah kamu kuliah saja, kami yang bisnis mencari uang untuk hidup'," kenang Basuki, yang juga akrab disapa Ahok ini.
Ikatan saudara angkat dua keluarga itu pula yang menjadikan Basuki diangkat menjadi anak di keluarga Andi-Misribu. Hubungan di antara dua keluarga itu tetap terjalin baik hingga Misribu mengembuskan napas terakhirnya, pertengahan Oktober lalu.
"Beliau itu orang yang paling yakin bahwa saya bisa jadi pejabat. Beliau yakin banget saya bisa jadi gubernur. Yakin banget beliau."
